The Last Cowboy

I still had a little twinkle in my heart when I started reading this one. Maybe the first collection was just a fluke! Maybe cowboy season could be a positive experience after all! Maybe I don’t need to start rolling my eyes at the mention of every hunky cowboy forever! Maybe I could read three in a row that didn’t make me steaming mad! Maybe…!

Or maybe not. Let go of this fantasy now, I am warning you.

Claimed By A Cowboy

Fair warning: I am primed to hate this book. I am blinded to any positive aspects this book might have. I will see only its faults, and I will present these faults to you as though they are glaring and insurmountable. I will argue that this is worst book ever written. We’re four weeks into cowboy season and we’ve racked up an 75% suck rate, so I am in no damn mood to be charitable or patient or open-minded. The only comfort my cold, black heart will find in reading this book is being right about terrible it is surely going to be. Sound fun? Yay!

Certified Cowboy

Hey dudes! We’re two books into cowboy month! Actually it will probably go a bit longer than a month because I have SO MANY cowboys in my corral thanks to Harlequin’s leap day cowboy sale. The only thing I love more than cowboy romance novels is not paying full price for cowboy romance novels, AM I RIGHT OR WHAT? Actually that’s not true. The only thing I love more than cowboy romance novels is their covers! Oh boy, what is going on with that pony? Not his best angle. I also really enjoy the cowboy’s face. He makes riding a bucking horse look effortless – like, really, he’s putting no effort into it. He might as well be sitting on a couch. Also is it just me or is he gazing longingly at his own crotch?

Long, Tall and Tempted #3: Cowboy Christmas

We’re almost to the end of this…um…collection, I guess you would call it? Whatever! It’s almost over! And don’t worry, this one is just as gut-wrenchingly awful as the others have been. Oops, I mean ROMANTIC. Oops, no, I meant barf.

Long, Tall and Tempted #2: Paper Husband

Oh boy, do I have a goodie for you! For novella #2, in this week’s installment of How I Learned to Stop Worrying About Being a Human Being And Decided to Just Go Ahead and Lower My Standards, we follow the burgeoning love story of Dana and Hank.

Compromised Hearts

This book is SUPER SUPER special to me, because it’s one of the very first romance novels I ever read (thanks Hannah Howell!). It’s the first romance novel I remember reading, although I read a lot of them (thanks, Mom, for having such a large collection for me to steal from!) and I can’t actually remember where this one fell in the chronology of romance novels in my life. Let’s just say that this book is one of the novels that started me down this road to obsession! Also it may have started a bunch of friends down that road, as I definitely passed it all around school. I saw this copy at the Borders (RIP) going out of business sale and it did not even occur to me to restrain the wave of nostalgia. Reader, I bought it.

Love’s Savage Embrace

Book Number 2 of the free, misfit romance novel collection! CHECK OUT THAT COVER, people. I mean, you can totally see why I bought it, right? He looks like a g.d. wolfman!!! Obviously, I needed it in my life. But anyhow, this doesn’t feel like a substantial book in your hand. It feels kind of short – so I thought, oh well maybe it’s straight-forward, right to the point, no messing around. Right? Well. Not right. In another genre you might call this novel “dense” or perhaps “twisty.” In the romance genre, however, I prefer to catalog this book as OMFG WHAT THE HELL JUST HAPPENED WHAT THE HELL COULD POSSIBLYHAPPEN NEXT WTF ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!?!?!?!
